2008 CityRoots Photo Journal now available!
UEI is excited to introduce the 2008 CityRoots Photo Journal, highlighting the hard work of over 180 dedicated community volunteers belonging to 11 neighborhood ecological restoration projects across the Boston area.
Over the course of the summer, 78 trees and close to 200 shrubs and perennials were proudly added to the Boston landscape, contributing to UEI's mission of building healthy, vibrant cities.
Congratulations to all our participants - 2008 was the most successful year in CityRoots history! See you in 2009!
Chris Timmel
Americorps*VISTA Sustainable Cities Program Assistant
Chris is very excited to be working for UEI and advocating the importance of green urban environments. He is a recent graduate of New York University with a bachelors degree in Applied Psychology. While living in New York, he would often gravitate towards those urban oases sparsely located throughout the concrete jungle (trying to capture a little piece of his Connecticut hometown). His senior year research focused on the beneficial effects of nature on the wellbeing of urbanites, with a more detailed look at the role green neighborhood play areas have on the development of urban children. Chris is looking forward to planting some trees and connecting theory with practice.
