2008 CityRoots Photo Journal now available!

UEI is excited to introduce the 2008 CityRoots Photo Journal, highlighting the hard work of over 180 dedicated community volunteers belonging to 11 neighborhood ecological restoration projects across the Boston area.

Over the course of the summer, 78 trees and close to 200 shrubs and perennials were proudly added to the Boston landscape, contributing to UEI's mission of building healthy, vibrant cities.

Congratulations to all our participants - 2008 was the most successful year in CityRoots history! See you in 2009!

Grow Boston Greener

The Grow Boston Greener initiative is a collaborative effort of the City of Boston and its partners in Boston's Urban Forest Coalition to increase the urban tree canopy cover in the city by planting 100,000 trees by 2020. The planting of these trees will increase Boston's tree canopy cover from 29% to 35%, by 2030 as the planted trees mature. A direct result of the efforts of the BUFC, GBG's development is being shaped in large part to UEI's development of planting and stewardship programs that will be shared among the Coalition members.
