2008 CityRoots Photo Journal now available!
UEI is excited to introduce the 2008 CityRoots Photo Journal, highlighting the hard work of over 180 dedicated community volunteers belonging to 11 neighborhood ecological restoration projects across the Boston area.
Over the course of the summer, 78 trees and close to 200 shrubs and perennials were proudly added to the Boston landscape, contributing to UEI's mission of building healthy, vibrant cities.
Congratulations to all our participants - 2008 was the most successful year in CityRoots history! See you in 2009!
Greentimes

Greentimes became a part of UEI in May 2006 when the Global Habitat Project, another Boston-area non-profit, merged with UEI. For the past 15 years, Greentimes has worked closely with high school students in Boston. The program guides up to 50 students each year in the creation process of four editions each of our two environmental newsletters: Greentimes and Greentimes JR.
We invite teachers to order free By Kids, For Kids materials at the Greentimes Program website.
Students from all over the world are also invited to email in their own written work. We have a whole section of the website devoted to guest writers! If you are interested in joining the program, check out the website for more details.
Other special program events are an Annual Greentimes Essay Contest for students who read Greentimes and a translation project where we post teen-written articles in English, French, Arabic, and soon Spanish!
