2008 CityRoots Photo Journal now available!

UEI is excited to introduce the 2008 CityRoots Photo Journal, highlighting the hard work of over 180 dedicated community volunteers belonging to 11 neighborhood ecological restoration projects across the Boston area.

Over the course of the summer, 78 trees and close to 200 shrubs and perennials were proudly added to the Boston landscape, contributing to UEI's mission of building healthy, vibrant cities.

Congratulations to all our participants - 2008 was the most successful year in CityRoots history! See you in 2009!

Reid Samuel

Americorps*VISTA PR/Development Assistant

Reid Samuel is a recent graduate of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, where he majored in public policy, with concentrations in urban and environmental policy and city planning. After graduating, he spent the summer working for the Georgia Tech Office of Solid Waste & Recycling, which helped to further increase his understanding of the world of recycling and program management. At Tech, he served as the president of the Georgia Tech Environmental Alliance, a student environmental organization, in which he helped to put together campaigns for campus water conservation, increased recycling services, and the annual Georgia Tech Earth Day celebration. As a VISTA volunteer, Reid is intrigued by the complex field of urban environmental systems, and hopes to help build social capital in urban areas around environmental advocacy. In his spare time, Reid is probably either studying a map or drinking a Mountain Dew.
