2008 CityRoots Photo Journal now available!
UEI is excited to introduce the 2008 CityRoots Photo Journal, highlighting the hard work of over 180 dedicated community volunteers belonging to 11 neighborhood ecological restoration projects across the Boston area.
Over the course of the summer, 78 trees and close to 200 shrubs and perennials were proudly added to the Boston landscape, contributing to UEI's mission of building healthy, vibrant cities.
Congratulations to all our participants - 2008 was the most successful year in CityRoots history! See you in 2009!
Tom Broderick
Americorps*VISTA Education Program Volunteer Coordinator
Tom is a Massachusetts native, having been born and raised in a small town in eastern/central MA. He moved to the city to attend Boston College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English in May of 2006. Shortly after graduation, Tom’s passion for the outdoors landed him a job in Yellowstone National Park, where he spent his free time backpacking, fishing, and exploring the Rocky Mountains. He returned to Wyoming the following summer and built trails for the National Park Service in Grand Teton National Park. Tom is excited to be back in Boston and working for UEI. He hopes to use this opportunity to learn more about the field of urban ecology and pass on his love of the outdoors to others.
