Students, Parents, Retirees, and Working Professionals:

Be a part of our work! UEI volunteers are involved in some of the most exciting aspects of our vision of expanding ecological stewardship in urban areas.

Our programs are perfect for:

• Students desiring in-class experience or hands-on ecological studies
• Parents wanting to give back to their children's education
• Retirees who want to share their life experiences, especially retired teachers and science professionals
• Working Professionals willing to share their expertise in the field of science and ecology

Field Studies

Reach out to our local youth by helping UEI's Field Studies Program. Work with students during school to conduct ecological studies at various sites around Boston. Volunteers serve alongside teachers and guide ecological field studies in an effort to engage urban youth in the natural environments found in their urban neighborhoods.

Out of School

Extend our curriculum into the after school hours and help students learn necessary science skills and ecological stewardship even after the school day is over. Similar to our In School Field Studies Program, the Out of School program creates a safe after school environment for students to gain a wide perspective on ecological issues. Experiments, field trips and group projects enhance science learning. We are looking for both experienced leaders and fresh assistants around Boston.

We're interested in your specialization! If you want to volunteer but are short on time consider giving a short presentation to classes or after school programs in your area of expertise such as: renewable energy, forestry, birds and animals, nature or farming. We are open to the varied possibilities of enhancing the science learning of urban youth.
